Surfside Beach
Around 50 miles south of Houston you'll find Surfside Beach. Locals brag about the miles and miles of unspoiled sandy beaches, but that's just the beginning. Visitors can also enjoy offshore fishing, water sports and the many nearby attractions. Some of the attractions include the Sea Center Texas aquarium and hatchery, Museum of Natural Science, a planetarium and two golf courses. Birding is also very popular in these parts. In addition to all of the fun activities you'll find great local restaurants that serve up the fresh catch of the day.
If your just planning to relax on the beach then this is the place for you. Check out what the official tourism website say:
"If you would rather be on the beach then Surfside Beach is your destination. Miles of golden sand teamed with interesting seashells and marine life make this a perfect retreat for recreational sports, sun worshipers and nature lovers alike. The Surfside Jetties, extending one mile into the Texas Gulf, offers anglers trophy redfish, speckled trout or just about any game fish. Beach house rentals, motels, offshore fishing charters, restaurants and souvenir shops are ideal for beach goers. Stahlman Park is available for family reunions and private parties. All vehicles driving on Surfside Beach must purchase a $10 annual pass and display in their windshield. The pedestrian beach is free of charge."
