Allen Heritage Center
The Allen Heritage Center is the perfect stop for visitors with an interest in history. The heritage center is a replica of the Houston & Texas Central Railway Company depot that was constructed in Allen in 1918.
The depot houses a pictorial history of Allen and serves as a place to learn about the community's past and present. Historical photo collages on display depict agriculture, churches, commerce, early Allen families and homesteads, military involvement, schools, trains and transportation of early decades.
Visitors also can watch the Tales of Allen series while visiting the center. The Tales of Collection includes: A Short History of Allen, St. Mary Baptist Church, Collin County Old Stone Dam, Allen Telephone Company, Historic Allen Cemetery, The Sam Bass Gang - First Train Robbery in Texas, and Interurban Railway.
Open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturday of the month. Group tours are available by appointment by calling 972.396.8546 or 972.727.2772.
