Soldiers Watering Hole

A historical marker seven miles east of Brady notes where US soldiers rested while traveling the nearby military road and patrolling for Indians during the Civil War. One particularly gruesome evening, 27 Indians surprised and massacred 18 men, women and children, burned their wagons and stole their horses. The massacred were buried nearby. The marker is located at US Highway 190 and County Road 412 with the actual site two and on-half miles off the paved road.
