Silent Wings Museum

Located along I-27 on the west side of Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport, the Silent Wings Museum tells the story of the U.S. Military Glider Program and its role in World War II. The majority of American glider pilots received their wings at South Plains Army Airfield (SPAAF) - now the site of the Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport. The museum features one of the few fully restored World War II gliders in existence and includes three exhibit galleries, a multimedia theater, a C-47 airplane, research library and museum store.
