Devils Bowl Speedway

The Devils Bowl Speedway was opened in 1949 in Dallas at the back of Buckner Blvd's drive in theater. The Bowl was moved to its current location in Mesquite in 1968. Lanny and Beverly Edwards took over the Bowl in 1972. Several professional Indy car and NASCAR drivers raced at the Devils bowl before they became pros. Some examples are Indy car drivers Johnny Rutherford, Al Unser Jr., Jim McCreath, and NASCAR's Kenny Schrader. Lanny Edwards also was given the first achievement award handed out by Texas Motor Speedway when the speedway was first opened.
