San Saba County Jail

The San Saba County Jail has two floors and is the oldest fully functional jail in the nation. One floor was originally for the jailer and his/her family while the top floor was used to lock up those people found by the law to be in violation of the code of conduct at the time.

The jail is made of sandstone and has a visiting area for criminals paying their time. It also has a display of drug paraphernalia that has been confiscated. Photo and text courtesy www.sansabaonline.com
