Stonehenge Odessa

Twenty stone blocks, similar in size and shape to those of England's ancient Stonehenge, were trucked in on tractor-trailers and lifted onto bases made of reinforced concrete. The replica is 70 percent of the original's vertical dimensions and exact in horizontal size, with the tallest of the limestone pieces standing 19 feet. The exhibit is located off East University Boulevard on the UTPB campus.Stonehenge OdessaLocated on the campus of The University of Texas of the Permian Basin, this replica of Stonehenge was constructed over a period of six weeks in the summer of 2004. A community group, wanting to draw more visitors to the city from I-20, initiated the idea, and the university approved the location.
