Worlds Richest Acre Park

Open year round. This half-block in downtown Kilgore once had 24 oil wells that yielded 2.5 million barrels of oil during 30 years of production. One original and over 70 restored ail derricks are testaments to the pioneer oil families of East Texas. Stars atop the derricks are lit during the Christmas season. Oil wells were drilled on almost every street corner and numbered close to 1,200 at the height of the boom.
