Benbrook Lake
Benbrook Lake offers some of the finest public parks in the Fort Worth area. Enjoy the camping, picnicking and swimming, reserveable group facilities, boat launching, hiking and horseback riding trails. All of the land around the lake is open to pedestrian use. The one and one-half mile long top of dam is popular for joggers and bicyclists, but walking on the grassy downstream slope of the embankment of the dam is not allowed. Birdwatching, hiking, bicycling and fishing are popular activities at Benbrook Lake. Hunting in season is also allowed with a permit from the Corps' office, but no other shooting of any type of firearms is allowed at any time. Fireworks are not permitted anywhere on the lake. Other Special Events may be allowed with permission from the Lake Office. Largemouth bass are the most popular sport fish in the reservoir. Hybrid striped bass are stocked annually and there is an excellent fishery for them. Channel and blue catfish are abundant; white bass and crappie provide good angling opportunities.
