McKinney Falls State Park

Information on Thomas F. McKinney and the history of the park's land use is interpreted in the Smith Visitor Center. The stabilized ruins of McKinney's homestead and his horse trainer's cabin are?preserved in the park. Camping , hiking, mountain biking, road biking, picnicking, fishing and wildlife observation are popular activities. Swimming is allowed in Onion Creek; contact?the park?for current creek conditions.
The park is also home to "Old Baldy," one of the oldest bald cypress trees on public land in Texas. The 103-foot tall cypress tree, is estimated to be over 500 years old.
The park also has cabins and group facilities , including a Group Recreation Hall with a Kitchen, a Group Primitive Area for nonprofit sponsored youth groups, and an amphitheater.

This park participates in the Angler Education " Tackle Loaner Program "; individuals can borrow rods, reels and tackle boxes with hooks, sinkers and bobbers.
