Exploring the Big Bend and West Texas is not for the timid, In some spots the nearest gas station, hospital, grocery store or restaurant can be hours away. Come to find out that's what folks like about West Texas. The solitude and slow pace of the Big Bend region keeps them coming back year after year. Many will come to camp, hike, mountain bike, ride horses or just relax on the "Porch" in Terlingua. Others will check out the "Marfa Lights", the art scene or the Food Shark in Marfa, some will visit historic Fort Davis a true frontier fort town; this is a good place to call home base when in the area, and still others will visit the area to take in the scenic mountain views. It really depends on what you want to do and how far you want to drive. If you're not the outdoors type you might want to stay closer to Midland or Odessa, where you can stay in your choice of hotels, eat at popular restaurants or going shopping. The Bend Region is full of activities for all types. Make sure to put the region on your bucket list.
