Red River War Battlefields
After spending time in the Red River War exhibit at the White Deer Land Museum, take a trip south on Highway 70 for a driving tour that highlights many of the Red River War battle sites. In 1874 and 1875, the Red River Indian Wars were fought between the U. S. Army and tribes of the Southern Plains. As a result of this war, the Indians lost their homelands and were forced to move to Oklahoma reservations and the Southern Plains were opened to ranching, farming and settlement. Brochures including maps are available at the Pampa Chamber office as well as the White Deer Land Museum.
