Albany
Albany, Texas is in the western part of the Texas Panhandle Plains along Highway 180 thirty-five miles northeast of Abilene, Texas. Albany reports of population of around two thousand or maybe a little less.
As the county seat of Shackelford, Texas Albany's home to one of Texas' famous courthouses. These old historic buildings are one of the most photographed subjects across Texas.
When visiting Albany make sure to see the old jail, the Ledbetter Pickett house, the historical markers and of course the Shackelford County Courthouse.
