Canutillo

Canutillo is a community on the east bank of the Rio Grande and on U.S. Highways 80 and 85 about twelve miles northwest of downtown El Paso in northwestern El Paso County. The community also was on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. The story of the town begins in June 1823, when the Canutillo land grant was assigned to Juan Mar?a Ponce De Le?n and twenty-nine other citizens of El Paso del Norte (what is now Ju?rez, Chihuahua, Mexico
