Nickel Creek
Nickel Creek, also known as Nickel Creek Station, is on U.S. Highway 62/180 five miles northeast of Pine Springs in northwestern Culberson County. The community was probably founded in the late 1940s and was named after a nearby stream. In the early 1960s the estimated population of Nickel Creek was eight. It had risen to sixteen by the late 1960s, and continued to be reported at that level through 1990. Around that time two businesses, including a motel, were in operation in Nickel Creek. In 2005 the community had only two residents, who operated the Nickel Creek Caf? in an old gas station.
